A Walk in the Woods

The air is crisp and clear as you head out for a hike. As you round a corner near a swamp, you spy what looks like a snake near the water's edge. The snake appears to be a tan color with some darker markings
As you get closer you start to think twice. Didn't you study something about poisonous snakes in your vertebrate zoology class?
You continue on your way, convinced that the snake is a harmless Northern Racer.
